【講座地點(diǎn)】保定校區(qū)教十二樓 A205

【主 講 人】James C. Sutherland;Associate Professor and Ph.D. supervisor of Chemical Engineering and adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Computing at the University of Utah

【主講人簡(jiǎn)介】

Dr. Sutherland's research is in the nexus of turbulent reacting flow, numerical analysis and high-performance computing, with applications in Large Eddy Simulation, Direct Numerical Simulation and reduced order modeling of turbulent combusting flows. Prior to joining the University of Utah's faculty, he was a post-doctoral researcher at Sandia National Laboratories, where he developed models and software for simulating objects in pool fires.

【內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)介】

Coal combustion has been a mainstay in power generation for more than a century. In this seminar, we will review some of the key advances in coal combustion over the past half-century and then review the current challenges surrounding coal combustion. We will also discuss the present state of the art on understanding fundamentals of coal combustion with emphasis on techniques for modeling coal combustion and gasification. We will also discuss some of the key challenges that arise in attempting to develop predictive simulations for coal combustion.
